Tifgreen has a very dense, low-growing, fine-textured, dark-green appearance and is an excellent choice for athletic fields or recreational turfs. With consistent care and trimming, Tifgreen creates an attractive "manicured" look. Tifgreen also Tifgreen adapts well to all of Southern California’s varying soils and climates. However, like all warm-season grasses, it becomes dormant in the winter. Tifgreen also has a faster build-up of thatching and will generally require dethatching once or twice a year.
