Serrano Tampiqueño Chili Pepper
The Serrano Tampiqueño is a classic, popular heirloom chili pepper originating from the mountainous regions of Puebla and Hidalgo in Mexico. It is a compact, prolific producer of crisp, slender, 2-to-4-inch peppers that pack a clean, sharp heat—averaging between 10,000 and 25,000 Scoville Heat Units, which makes it noticeably spicier than a standard jalapeño. The peppers start as a vibrant, glossy green and eventually ripen to a deep red. It is a staple in Mexican cuisine, widely used fresh in salsas, pico de gallo, and sauces, or dried and pickled.
