Plant Sizing Guide

An evergreen or semi-deciduous groundcover found in coastal California plant communities. Blooms with bright yellow flowers late spring into early fall, retaining its flowers through summer when most native plants have stopped blooming. Typically stays under a foot but may grow up to 2 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide. Great for coastal gardens as it tolerates wind and salt spray. Can be grown inland in part shade. Grow in sun along the coast. Prefers regular to moderate water and sandy (or at least well-draining) soil. Reliably evergreen along the coast but may lose its foliage in summer inland. Can be pruned hard in late fall or winter to refresh foliage and flowers.
